Good morning readers! I hope you’re fine and ready for another Interview with the Character!
Today I am proud to host Dan Leicht, also known as D.e.e.L, interview with Charles Splints, the main character in his series of detective stories. D.e.e.L is the author of various Ebooks available on Smashwords as well as the story collection Blissfire that is available in both paperback and Ebook. He writes in almost every genre and aspires to keep on writing even more.
Enjoy the interview!
The Splints Special

“Mind if I take a seat?”
“I guess not.”
I sit down next to the city’s top detective, Charles Splints. Few might still call him such out loud, but most still know it’s true.
“What are you having?” I ask.
“Same thing you’re about to be having.”
He calls over the barkeep and orders two neat glasses of scotch – black label, calling the order the “Splints Special.”
“You need saving?”
“I was hoping I could ask you a few questions.”
“Ask away then, the night is still young.”
“It’s almost one in the morning.”
“Then we have all damn day for questions. What’s your first?”
I fiddle through papers trying to find page one.
“What made you want to become a detective?”
“Hmmph, been awhile since I’ve been asked something like that. I suppose it’s always been in me to solve everyone else’s problems except my own.”
“Why not tend to your own problems first?”
“I’m just one man, and those things can wait. I need to put myself out there, this city, these people, they need someone more than I do.”
He stops to take a sip and grab a handful of pretzels from the dish by the counter’s edge.
“You’re the leader of the Grid right now. Am I correct in my understanding?”
“You’re correct, Sir. What’s your name again?”
“Oh, I’m Dan. Nice to meet you I suppose.”
“Charles Splints. Pleasure is all yours.”
“So, the Grid. What’s it like being the leader of the city’s biggest gang?”
“Exhausting. I sleep even less now, and I barely did before. Constant banging on my door even though I tell them to get lost every single time they come around.”
“Your door? According to Black Coffee 3…”
“My car door.”
“Ah, yes. Forgot you still have that pile of junk.”
“How much do you know about me exactly?”
“About as much as you do.”
“Then why interview me?”
“Just in case I’m wrong.”
He rolls his eyes and places a pretzel in his mouth.
“What’s next,” he asks as he chews.
“Where do you see yourself going once the Black Coffee series has ended?”
“Well, Dan, the man that knows everything. I suppose you’re the one to answer that question. I’d like to see myself in a condo somewhere in Florida. See what you can do.”
He gets up from his stool and throws a few bills onto the counter along with a notepad and a pen.
“Grab yourself another round and get started on that condo. I’m thinking a nice balcony with a great view. Maybe I’ll even let you visit sometime.”
He walks out the door and the barkeep comes up to ask me what I’ll have.
“The Splints Special.”

Thank you!
The greatest part of the credit belongs to the amazing writers that decided to write for my blog!
I love interviews that reveal character through action as much as dialogue. This was a great one.
Reblogged this on Perché un blog? Perché mi va! and commented:
Ecco la terza Intervista con il Personaggio! Questa volta è opera dell’autore Dan Leicht! Enjoy!
