Let’s do it again!
Hello readers! How are you?
I’ve been quite silent lately because it has been a very hectic period and my free time has been devoted mainly to my fiction writing. Talking about fiction writing… today is a big day because Camp NaNoWriMo begins!
What’s that?
Camp NaNoWriMo is a rib of NaNoWriMo, which stands for National Novel Writing Month and takes place in November. Camp takes place in April and July and it follows basically the same principle: writers from all over the world take a month to dive into writing and reach a specific goal. The difference is that this time you can set your own goal, from a minimum of 10000 words to a maximum of infinite.
This time, going a little against the principle that prescribes to write an original draft, I decided to use Camp NaNo to do the final rewriting of Secrets of a Handbag. Then I’m going to send it to beta readers and, if everything goes well, I plan to translate it in English by the end of the summer.
Thanks to writer friends, I recently read a book about outlining called “Take off your pants” by Libbie Hawker (that has nothing to do with Blink 182), which explains a way to outline novels in order to write better and faster. Reading the book I thought a lot about my novel and decided that needs some changes, some adds and some cuts, and a little more attention to the main male character.
Actually, I can’t wait to start this rewriting!
In the meantime I began a new adventure: I started translating fiction works from English to Italian and I’m really happy about it! I have to thank my friend Cinta Garcia de La Rosa (incredible writer, editor and translator) for mentioning my name to a friend of hers who was searching for an Italian translator. At first I was a bit nervous because I wasn’t sure I would be able to handle the language well enough but in the end, it was less difficult than expected and really fun. I’m pretty satisfied with the final result (even if it’s a little self-celebratory to say).
Now it’s time to dive into writing, but I would love to hear from you all! What new adventures did you start recently? Share in the comments!
